Mud Talks 07 | The Retail Renaissance | NYC x Design

Our first-ever US MudTalk took place during NYC x Design this May exploring the Retail Renaissance occurring in our unique Brooklyn neighbourhood.

Hosted by Cafe Kitsuné as part of NYC x Design Festival, our first US Mud Talk was an afternoon to be remembered.

Moderated by Brooklynite and Executive Editor of Elle Decor, Ingrid Abramovitch, this lively panel brought together notable voices from the Atlantic Avenue design community including Shelley Simpson, founder and creative director of Mud; Michele Varian, designer and founder of Michele Varian Shop & Design and Sarah Zames, principal of the design firm General Assembly and co-founder of Assembly Line.

This panel talk explored the landscape for independent retailers, looking at Atlantic Avenue as a case study – a growing hub for small, creative businesses that help foster community and more conscious consumption.

Watch an inspiring dialogue that celebrates our Brooklyn design community and manifests a sustainable future for our Atlantic Avenue community.
