Celebrating Robin Day with &Tradition at the Barbican

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Robin Day at the Barbican, London.

Mud Australia was delighted to be part of an intimate evening at London’s Barbican Estate, celebrating the life and legacy of designer Robin Day. The dinner table featured our handmade porcelain and a thoughtful menu inspired by Day’s timeless designs.

As the sun cast a mellow glow throughout the apartment, guests were joined by those who played a pivotal role in the contemporary revival of Robin Day’s seminal works. A testament to the beauty of his designs that continues to draw people together, guests sat down for a meal inspired by fond memories of the designer, as recalled by his daughter, Paula Day.

The menu for the evening made use of locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients. A salt-baked Cornish sea bream was presented as a tribute to Day and the pleasure he would take in dissecting whole fish. Served alongside a medley of vegetables inspired by those grown on Day’s father’s allotment, each component was prepared in a way that celebrated their nuanced flavours.

We are thankful to have been part of this meaningful celebration and extend our thanks to the &Tradition team, Paula Day and the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation for bringing this special celebration to life.
