Hosted at PHYLUM during Modernism Week, our MudTalk with Shelley Simpson was a morning of community, sweet treats, and inspiration, celebrating the vibrant spirit of Palm Springs' creative scene.
Moderated by Jessica Romm Perez, the conversation delved deep into the intersection of craft, community, and conscious design. Shelley Simpson, founder and creative director of Mud Australia, shared her journey of building one of Australia’s most enduring craft-based businesses, celebrating 30 years of innovation and sustainability.
The talk explored how modernist principles continue to shape design, and how the future of craftsmanship is increasingly intertwined with environmental responsibility. Following the talk, attendees had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, asking Shelley about her vision for the future and her insights on the evolving design landscape.
A big thank you to the entire PHYLUM team for making the talk possible, and to Dean Herne for capturing the moments.
All proceeds from ticket sales during this event were donated to the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund, supporting recovery efforts for communities affected by California’s wildfires.
