In celebration of NAIDOC week, Mud Australia has partnered with artists from APY Lands Art Centre Collective on an exhibition of fine-art hand painted Mud ceramics, using a few of our more sculptural pieces from our range as a canvas for their incredible artwork.
The collaboration marks the beginning of an enduring partnership between Mud and APY to facilitate ceramic practice and industry in the remote communities of the APY lands. 80% of all sales goes directly to APY Art Centres, with 20% reinvested in not-for-profit projects such as investing in kilns and ceramic materials.
APY Art Centre Collective is a group of Indigenous owned and governed Art Centres with a united vision on strategic collaborative artistic projects. The Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands (APY Lands) are located in the far north west of South Australia. Here art centres facilitate and market the work of 500+ Indigenous artists. APY art centres are powerful places and vital to communities that struggle with complex physical and social conditions marked by intergenerational trauma, remoteness, poverty and ill health. These centres provide industry and income to members of community through their art practice.
