Wrap Up - Still/Life, Salone Del Mobile 2019

During Salone del Mobile 2019, we presented STILL / LIFE with Calico Wallpaper and Ladies & Gentlemen Studio – marking our first-time appearance in Milan. Featuring a selection of our ceramic tableware and lighting in a new matte finish, site-specific gradients by Calico Wallpaper and interiors and lighting by Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, STILL / LIFE invited guests to experience a moment of introspection and interaction.

The STILL / LIFE installation featured a series of visual-sensory vignettes weaving natural materials with original design works by the exhibitors and their creative processes. Visitors were transported to an environment rich with natural and creative energy – their senses engaged by sounds, scents, and visuals that elicit a rejuvenating sense of tranquillity and inspiration.

The spatial concept for STILL / LIFE was designed by Ladies & Gentlemen Studio founders Dylan Davis and Jean Lee, who envisioned a space that embraced a dual state of tranquillity and vitality, revealing a calming yet enriching environment that opens the senses to elemental possibilities: a momentary day dream, a fond memory, or a chance conversation. The installation incorporated elements of process and materiality from the exhibitors as a means to celebrate their collective creative energy.

At STILL / LIFE we introduced a new matte finish across our full collection of porcelain tableware and lighting, which is now available as a special order in all 20 colours and 80 shapes. The introduction of this new finish is in honour of our 25th anniversary which we are proudly celebrating throughout 2019. As well as offering better durability for commercial environments, the new finish also absorbs light, creating a particularly sculptural effect – read more about it here. On show at STILL / LIFE was a selection of our favourite shapes from our Pebble, Noodle, Nest and Flared collections in an emotive colour palette of Ink, Citrus, Sand, Steel and Milk. The exhibition also included elements used during our handcrafted process, from molds to pigments and various tools and trimmings.
