What type of servingware does Mud Australia sell?
Our timeless collection of ceramic servingware is designed by Shelley Simpson and handmade in our Sydney studio. Available in 19 shades, our collection is as much about self-expression as it is about functionality.
What is Mud Australia servingware made from?
Our handmade servingware is made in our Sydney studio from high-quality porcelain clay sourced directly from Limoges, France.
What is unique about Mud Australia serving pieces?
Mud Australia servingware is proudly made in Sydney. Our Pouring Team are trained in house and use a combination of experience and intuition to cast each piece. The beauty of our pieces can be attributed to the hand-made process and human touch.
Using porcelain clay sourced directly from Limoges, France, the pigment is tinted to the body at the slip stage to provide colour depth.
Clear glaze is applied to the interior of each piece, leaving the exterior with a vitrified stone-like surface that becomes smooth with handling.
Is Mud Australia ceramic serveware dishwasher and microwave safe?
Our servingware is food safe and can, with some care, be used in the oven, microwave and dishwasher.
In the dishwasher, make sure items are not touching. To avoid scratches on the glaze ideally your porcelain will either be stored in plate racks or use linen/felt between each item.
Sudden changes in temperature (eg. from freezer to oven / from oven to cold bench) is likely to cause thermal shock, which will damage your porcelain. Always put cold items onto wire racking when placing in a hot oven. Always place very hot items onto either wood or cloth.
